PUNTA GORDA, FL – Charlotte County deputies launched a homicide investigation Monday after a person was found shot to death on Van Buren Avenue. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed its Major Crimes Unit is leading the case and that all individuals connected to the incident have been identified.
Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public, though details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting have not been released. Investigators remained on scene for several hours collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses in the neighborhood.
The Sheriff’s Office said additional information will be provided as the investigation develops and once it is appropriate to do so.
