MIDDLETOWN, NJ – The New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a fatal crash that occurred Sunday afternoon on the Garden State Parkway in Middletown Township.
Troopers responded around 1:34 p.m. to reports of a vehicle that had overturned in the express lanes near milepost 110.8. According to a preliminary investigation, a black Toyota 4Runner traveling southbound veered off the roadway to the left, struck a guide rail, and overturned into the northbound express lanes. The driver suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Authorities have not released the identity of the driver pending notification of next of kin. No additional vehicles were reported to have been involved.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who possesses dash camera footage from the area at the time to contact the Troop D Holmdel Station Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500, extension 7417. Anonymous tips are also accepted.
