Dog Abandoned at Airport Being Fostered by Caring Family

PITTSBURGH, PA – Charges have been filed against a Kittanning woman who left her dog abandoned at Pittsburgh International Airport.

On August 4, a dog was found near the short-term parking at the airport. The dog is now doing well and being fostered.

The owner, 44-year-old Allison Gaiser, intentionally abandoned the dog before boarding a plane to Mexico. Investigators have charged Gaiser with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, along with summary violations of animal cruelty, animal neglect, and abandonment of animals by owner.

The Allegheny County Police, with assistance from Animal Friends of Pittsburgh and the state dog warden, are handling the investigation.

“We heard from so many of you and wanted to provide an update on the dog found at Pittsburgh International Airport on August 4. First and foremost, the dog is doing well and is still being fostered,” the department said today.
