Double jackpot shocker in sleepy Maryland suburb

Middle River woman hits second 50000 dollar lottery prize in three months

BALTIMORE, MD – A Middle River woman who follows her instincts when picking lottery numbers is celebrating again after claiming her second 50000 dollar Bonus Match 5 top prize in just three months.

The winner claimed her latest prize on Tuesday after matching all five numbers in the Feb. 15 Bonus Match 5 drawing, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Her first 50000 dollar win came in December. Both winning tickets were purchased at Compass Beer Pump, located at 3 Compass Road in Middle River. The retailer received a 500 dollar bonus for each of the two top-prize tickets sold.

The woman said she studies previous winning numbers and waits for what she described as a confident feeling before buying her tickets. Lottery officials noted that each drawing is random and that prior results do not influence future outcomes. In Bonus Match 5, the odds of matching all five numbers to win the 50000 dollar top prize are 1 in 575757.

She visited Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Feb. 18 to claim her second prize and said the winnings have helped her support her adult children during difficult periods and make progress on paying down her mortgage.

After securing two top prizes in recent months, the winner said she may consider trying a different game but plans to continue playing.
