DOVER, Del. — A 20-year-old man has been arrested for his role in a shootout linked to a June 14 homicide on Barrister Place, the Dover Police Department announced Monday.

Makhai Miller was taken into custody on July 2 after detectives identified him as a participant who fired a handgun during a multi-party exchange of gunfire that resulted in the death of Daniel Guzman Jr.

Investigators say at least three groups were involved in the shooting, and while Miller has not been charged with homicide, he faces charges for his participation in the gunfire.

He was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree reckless endangering. He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $66,000 cash bail.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are working with the Delaware Department of Justice to identify who is responsible for the fatal shooting.
