Hackensack man pleads guilty to high-speed police chase in Brick Township
BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – A Hackensack man who led police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Brick Township in 2021 has pleaded guilty to eluding, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Ally Golo, 41, entered the guilty plea Monday before Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill. The charges stem from an April 27, 2021 incident during which Golo fled Brick Township officers after committing multiple traffic violations in a blue Chevrolet Malibu. Prosecutors will recommend a five-year New Jersey State Prison sentence when Golo is formally sentenced on March 27.
Police say Golo nearly caused a collision before fleeing at a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, he crossed into oncoming lanes and attempted to turn onto Godfrey Lake Drive, where he lost control and struck a guardrail. Golo continued fleeing before crashing into a parked car near the Maple Leaf Condominiums.
The pursuit didn’t end there. Golo continued to evade officers onto Sawmill Road, where he finally stopped the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Officers chased and captured him, taking him into custody without further incident. He was initially transported to the Ocean County Jail but later released under New Jersey’s bail reform policies.
Golo’s arrest and prosecution followed an investigation by the Brick Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. Assistant Prosecutor Emma Hurst is handling the case for the state.
