DELMAR, MD – A Wicomico County nurse ended 2025 with a life-changing surprise after winning $2 million on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket she purchased as a last-minute Christmas Eve treat for herself.
The Eastern Shore woman, who regularly buys scratch-offs as holiday gifts for friends and family, decided to try her luck with the $30 200X The Cash game. When she revealed the ticket’s results at home, disbelief quickly turned to excitement. “I said, ‘No way, no way!’” she recalled after claiming her prize December 31 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I took out my phone and scanned the ticket with the app. When I saw it was real, I just started shaking.”
The mother of two immediately secured the winning ticket in her parents’ safe until she could make arrangements to claim it. With her $2 million prize, she plans to pay off her mortgage and set aside savings for her children’s future.
The Exxon station at 8600 Ocean Highway in Delmar, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery. Released December 5, 200X The Cash features five $2 million top prizes — four of which remain unclaimed.
