Lothian man, 77, arrested for pointing shotgun at delivery driver

LOTHIAN, MD – A 77-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault after allegedly pointing a shotgun at a delivery driver during a confrontation in Anne Arundel County.

The incident occurred just after 1:00 p.m. on Friday in the 5600 block of Southern Maryland Boulevard. According to investigators, a 22-year-old man was leaving a residence after making a delivery when the suspect, identified as Richard Leonard Clow of Lothian, allegedly pointed a shotgun at him and issued a threat.

The driver immediately left the scene and contacted police. Officers responded to the area, identified Clow as the suspect, and later took him into custody. The shotgun believed to have been used during the encounter was seized at the time of arrest.

Clow was charged with first-degree assault. No injuries were reported, and authorities have not disclosed what may have led to the confrontation.

The case remains under investigation by Southern District detectives.
