BRONX, NY – A 70-year-old woman was punched in the face and robbed of thousands of dollars in cash during a daylight attack in the Soundview section of the Bronx, police said.
The assault occurred around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, near the intersection of Watson Avenue and Colgate Avenue.
According to investigators, the woman was standing on the sidewalk when an unidentified man approached her from behind and struck her in the face.
The attacker then snatched her purse, which contained approximately $2,000 in cash, a Samsung cellphone, credit and debit cards, and personal identification.
He fled north on Colgate Avenue and remains at large.
Victim treated for facial injuries

The victim suffered bruising to her eye and nose and was transported by EMS to Montefiore Westchester Square Campus, where she was listed in stable condition.
Detectives from the NYPD are searching for the suspect, who was described as a male with a dark complexion last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts, and black-and-white sneakers.
Police seek help identifying suspect
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences to identify the man responsible for the robbery.
