Elderly woman attacked in elevator at 125th Street subway station

Manhattan, NY – A 73-year-old woman was assaulted inside an elevator at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue subway station Wednesday evening following a verbal dispute with another passenger, police said.

The incident occurred around 5:35 p.m. when the victim was approached by an unidentified woman inside the station elevator. According to investigators, the two exchanged words before the suspect struck the elderly victim several times in the face with a closed fist.

The victim suffered pain and bruising but refused medical attention at the scene. The assailant fled moments later, boarding a southbound train.

Police described the suspect as a woman with a light complexion who was last seen wearing a black jacket. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
