Essex County celebrates $120K lottery win

Newark lottery player wins $120K share of Jersey Cash 5 jackpot

Trenton, NJ — A lucky lottery player in Essex County matched all five numbers in Monday’s Jersey Cash 5 drawing, securing half of a $240,702 jackpot in one of the state’s latest big wins.

The winning ticket was sold at Lou’s Corner Liquor Mart, located at 168 Van Buren Street in Newark. It matched all five numbers drawn — 13, 25, 28, 30, and 35 — in the December 8 drawing. The Bullseye number was 35 and the XTRA multiplier was 03.

The Essex County ticket shares the jackpot with another winning ticket sold in Monmouth County, meaning each winner will receive $120,351 before taxes. The Newark retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus from the New Jersey Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

This marks the 61st Jersey Cash 5 jackpot win of 2025. In addition to the two jackpot winners, 18 players won $500 by matching four out of five numbers and the Bullseye. Of those, 10 players tripled their prize to $1,500 by using the XTRA feature.

The jackpot has now reset to $150,000 for the next drawing.
