Evesham Man Charged With First-Degree Sexual Assault Involving Young Girl

A 45-year-old Evesham man remains jailed after authorities charged him with sexually assaulting a young girl, according to Burlington County prosecutors.

EVESHAM, N.J. – A 45-year-old Evesham man has been charged with multiple sex offenses after investigators alleged he sexually assaulted a young girl, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Gregory P. Regan was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault. Prosecutors said he was taken into custody on May 11 and lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, where he remains after a Superior Court judge ordered him detained pending trial.

Investigation began after relative contacted authorities

The investigation began when a relative of the victim contacted law enforcement to report the alleged assault. Officials said additional details about the case are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Evesham Township Police Chief Tom Reinholt announced the charges. The case is expected to be presented to a grand jury in the near future.

Authorities seeking additional information

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to Regan or the investigation to contact the Prosecutor’s Office at 609-265-5035 and request to speak with a detective assigned to the Special Victims Unit. Tips also may be submitted by email to tips@co.burlington.nj.us.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Evesham Township Police Department. Lead investigators are BCPO Detective Megan Propati and ETPD Detective Franci Garibay.

Why it matters

Authorities frequently encourage potential victims and witnesses to come forward in sexual assault investigations, as additional information may assist investigators in identifying other possible victims or corroborating evidence. The charges against Regan are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
