CONGERS, N.Y. – A fallen tree caused a temporary shutdown of Route 303 in both directions Sunday evening before the roadway was cleared and reopened, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

Police said the closure occurred between Tremont Avenue and Highway Avenue in Congers after the tree blocked the roadway. Officers responded to the scene, and the New York State Department of Transportation was notified and dispatched to assist with removal.

The department announced at 8:21 p.m. Sunday that Route 303 had been fully reopened to traffic.

Clarkstown police confirm Route 303 has reopened after a fallen tree briefly shut down the roadway Sunday evening in Congers.
