Fatal Four-Vehicle Collision in Laurel Under Investigation

Laurel, MD – Howard County Police are investigating a deadly accident that occurred last night involving four vehicles on Route 1, just north of Country Meadows Lane. The incident took place at approximately 9:44 p.m. on February 6.

A 1995 Chevy 1500, heading northbound on Route 1, veered across the median for reasons yet to be determined, colliding with a 2007 Pontiac Solstice traveling in the opposite direction. The impact caused the Pontiac to hit a 2022 Hyundai Accent, while debris from the crash also struck a 2022 Toyota Camry.

The collision resulted in the death of the Pontiac’s driver, an adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other drivers involved in the accident were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Following the accident, Route 1 was shut down in both directions between Whiskey Bottom Road and Maier Road for about four hours to allow for emergency response and preliminary investigations.
