TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A structure fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at Roberts Mobile Home Park, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and leading to the safe evacuation of all residents and their pets.
The fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. after smoke was seen emerging from the front of a mobile home unit. Firefighters arriving on the scene encountered flames throughout the structure and upgraded the incident to a working structure fire.
Crews from multiple Toms River fire companies worked together to control the blaze, bringing it under control within approximately 25 minutes. No injuries were reported, and the residents were able to evacuate the home safely along with their pets.
“The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced occupants,” according to officials. The exact number of people displaced was not disclosed.
Responding fire departments included Pleasant Plains, Silverton, East Dover, Toms River Fire Companies #1 and #2, and Whitesville. Toms River Police and EMS also assisted in the response effort.
Investigation underway into fire’s cause
Inspectors Stalowski and Carlin from the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention are investigating the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined at this time.
Authorities have not released the names of the residents involved, and no additional information about property damage or structural integrity has been made available.
Officials have not stated whether working smoke alarms were present in the home at the time of the fire. No other units in the mobile home park were affected by the incident.
Emergency services cleared the scene after ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and that there were no remaining hazards.
