ROSELLE PARK, N.J. – A five-alarm blaze tore through a structure near West Westfield Avenue and Valley Road on Thursday afternoon, triggering multiple explosions and drawing dozens of fire crews from across Union County, officials said.
The Roselle Park Fire Department was dispatched just after 4:30 p.m. following reports of a structure fire from a first responder on scene. Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy flames shooting through the roof as the fire rapidly intensified. The blaze escalated to five alarms, prompting mutual aid from multiple neighboring departments to battle the inferno and cover additional calls across town.
Firefighters worked for hours to contain the fire as hazardous materials teams and environmental officials assessed the scene. No injuries were immediately reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Local officials extended thanks to Union County fire and police agencies, emergency services, and several area businesses that provided food, water, and support to responders.
