BALTIMORE, Md. – Maryland Lottery officials confirmed that five state players scored major prizes in the Christmas Eve Powerball drawing, even as the record-setting jackpot was claimed by a single ticket sold in Arkansas.

The jackpot, originally estimated at $1.7 billion, climbed to a final annuity value of $1.817 billion with a cash option of $834.9 million after last-minute ticket sales, making it the second-largest Powerball prize ever won. The only larger jackpot remains the $2.04 billion win recorded in California in November 2022.

Maryland’s Christmas Eve drawing produced more than 136,000 winning tickets statewide. The top Maryland prize was a $100,000 win on a ticket sold at Dash In, 2575 Riva Road in Annapolis. Four additional $50,000 winning tickets were sold at Royal Farms in Elkridge, 7-Eleven in Germantown, and Safeway stores in Middletown and Wheaton.

Between September 7 and December 24, the Powerball jackpot run generated $11.3 million in Maryland prizes, including 29 tickets worth $50,000 or more. Those wins featured two $1 million prizes from tickets sold in Clinton and Lanham, a $500,000 prize in Upper Marlboro, and several six-figure wins in cities including Accokeek, Hughesville, and Annapolis.

During the same period, Maryland Powerball sales reached $61.7 million. With 25 percent of each dollar supporting state programs and services, the jackpot run generated $15.4 million in contributions to the state and $3.5 million in retailer commissions.
