JACKSONVILLE, FL – Mike Dragich, also known as “Blue Collar Brawler,” showcased his unconventional skills by capturing an 8-foot alligator roaming the streets of Jacksonville’s Northside. Despite lacking his usual equipment, Dragich, a licensed Florida alligator trapper, MMA artist, veteran, and nonprofit leader, successfully removed the nuisance gator.
The impromptu capture occurred while Dragich was attending a Jacksonville Icemen hockey game with his family. Upon receiving a call from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office regarding the alligator sighting, Dragich swiftly responded, arriving near a shopping plaza on Edgewood Avenue W and Vernon Road to confront the large reptile.
Remarkably, Dragich managed to subdue the alligator using only his bare hands and feet, showcasing his True Florida man style. Reflecting on the unusual incident, Dragich shared, “I was at a hockey game (in) downtown Jacksonville with my family! Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office called the emergency alligator situation to FWC and I was dispatched. It was only five minutes from the game, so I literally left the game, caught the alligator, and then went back to the game!”
April marks the beginning of mating season for alligators, leading to an uptick in sightings and encounters. Dragich’s quick response and bold approach highlight the unique challenges faced by Florida residents during this time of heightened alligator activity.
