WASHINGTON, D.C. — A group of suspects is in custody following a robbery at a Chanel store in Northwest D.C. on Friday afternoon that left an employee assaulted and over $217,000 in merchandise stolen.

Robbery unfolds in broad daylight in high-end DC shopping district
Around 1:54 p.m. Friday, a group of suspects entered the Chanel location in the 900 block of I Street, Northwest. Once inside, they used a fire extinguisher to disrupt the store, assaulted a special police officer employed at the location, and packed luxury merchandise into a large duffel bag.
The suspects caused damage to the store’s front door before fleeing. Responding officers were able to apprehend several suspects near the scene, while the suspect vehicle managed to escape.
Suspects face multiple charges following robbery
The Metropolitan Police Department arrested 18-year-old Devin Wingate of Suitland, Maryland; 30-year-old Tyrik Hagood of Northeast, D.C.; 38-year-old Jamar Tolson; and 32-year-old James Crumpler-Nichols, both of no fixed address. All were charged with Robbery, Burglary Two, and Destruction of Property.
Tolson was also charged with Simple Assault for his role in the attack on the store employee.
Investigation into high-value theft continues
The case remains under active investigation. Police have not confirmed if additional suspects connected to the getaway vehicle are still being sought.
