Four charged in violent Lodi home invasion after months-long investigation

Lodi, NJ – Four individuals, including a juvenile, have been charged in connection with an armed home invasion that took place inside a Lodi apartment in October following a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Lodi Police Department.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, 20-year-old Nyla J. King and 27-year-old Kas A. Mallory, both of Wallington, along with 27-year-old Trevonn A. Nevers of River Edge, were arrested after investigators linked them to a violent robbery on Bel Vista Court. A 17-year-old from Passaic County was also charged in the case.

On the night of October 15, at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to reports of screams at an apartment complex, where a marijuana transaction had reportedly led to a confrontation with three masked suspects. One suspect allegedly struck the victim in the head with a firearm before the victim escaped and ran for help. While one assailant chased the victim, two others remained behind to steal cash and marijuana before fleeing in a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Investigators later identified the vehicle as being used by Mallory, which led to the identification of the other suspects. With assistance from the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, authorities arrested Nevers and Mallory on December 10 during coordinated operations at their residences. During a search of Mallory’s home, detectives recovered a stolen Glock 9mm handgun, an extended drum magazine, and ammunition. King, who resides with Mallory, was also taken into custody.

Nevers and Mallory were each charged with first-degree home invasion burglary and first-degree armed robbery, among other weapons and assault offenses. Mallory faces additional counts, including possession of a large-capacity magazine and receiving stolen property. Both men remain held at the Bergen County Jail pending court appearances.

King was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a large-capacity magazine. She was released on her own recognizance.

The 17-year-old juvenile, already detained at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated matter, was formally charged with armed robbery, home invasion burglary, and multiple weapons offenses related to the same incident.
