Frederick man arrested on 17 child pornography charges after social media tip

Man charged with 17 child pornography counts after Frederick search yields electronic evidence

FREDERICK, MD – A 31-year-old man was arrested after deputies executed a warrant at a Logan Street home and seized multiple electronic devices that investigators say linked him to child sexual abuse material, launching a criminal case with 17 charges and an immigration detainer.

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputies took Ricardo Hernandez‑Martinez into custody Monday following a probe prompted by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that identified child sexual abuse material on a social media account tied to the suspect. Law enforcement recovered several electronic devices during the search of the 500 block of Logan Street, and Hernandez‑Martinez was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Prosecutors charged Hernandez‑Martinez with three counts of distribution of child pornography, six counts of possession of child pornography, five counts of child pornography — solicit subject, and three counts of child pornography — permit sex subject, according to the sheriff’s office. A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was placed on him, and authorities say that after the criminal case is resolved he will be released into ICE custody.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue processing seized devices and following leads. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
