Freeholders Recognize K-9’s

The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders joined with Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy in recognizing the work of the bloodhounds that are members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit.

The bloodhounds are nationally certified and assist in finding missing children and missing dementia patients.

They are also used for tracking for homicides, burglaries, robberies, assaults, and motor vehicle accidents.

Moreover, they are featured in many K9 demonstrations. Joining in the recent recognition presentation were Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Captain Keith Klements, Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy, Freeholders Joseph H. Vicari and Virginia E. Haines, Freeholder Deputy Director John C. Bartlett Jr., Freeholder Director Gerry P. Little and Freeholder John P. Kelly, Director of Law and Public Safety, Sgt. Robert Stack, K9 Unit Supervisor, Sheriff’s Officer James Kohout who is handler for K9 Emmitt and Clifford and Sheriff’s Officer Christine Casullo who partners with K9 Gertrude Penelope and now 11 week-old Fiona.
