Freeport player wins $100K Powerball prize at neighborhood supermarket
FREEPORT, NY – A lucky Powerball player in Freeport is now $100,000 richer after a ticket purchased at a local grocery store matched four numbers plus the Power Ball in Saturday night’s drawing.
The winning ticket was sold at Gala Foods Supermarket, located at 111 West Merrick Road. The third-tier prize of $50,000 was doubled thanks to the Power Play multiplier, which landed on 2X for the September 3 drawing.
The winning numbers drawn that night were 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with the Power Ball number 17. The Power Play feature, which costs an extra dollar, allows players to multiply non-jackpot prizes — turning mid-tier winnings into life-changing payouts.
The identity of the Freeport winner has not yet been released. Powerball winners in New York have up to one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.
Powerball drawings are held three times a week — every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday — at 10:59 p.m.
