Syracuse police recover stolen car in under an hour after early morning theft
Syracuse, NY — A stolen vehicle reported in the city’s Strathmore neighborhood was recovered in less than an hour Wednesday morning, thanks to swift action by two Syracuse police officers.
The car’s owner discovered it missing around 7:30 a.m. and immediately notified the Syracuse Police Department. Officers Froio and Cordero responded quickly, spotted the stolen vehicle shortly after the report came in, and successfully recovered it before 8:30 a.m., police said.
The rapid recovery is being credited to the department’s proactive focus on vehicle thefts, which officials say has contributed to a 52% decrease in auto thefts citywide compared to the same period last year.
