Gun-toting subway robbers terrorize NYC subway riders in overnight spree

BRONX, N.Y. – Police are searching for four suspects behind a violent string of early-morning subway and street robberies that left several victims shaken in the 44th and 46th Precincts, authorities said Wednesday.

According to the NYPD, the first incident occurred around 2 a.m. aboard a northbound D train approaching the 182nd Street and Grand Concourse station. A 27-year-old man was riding when one of the suspects suddenly snatched his phone. As the victim tried to retrieve it, another suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at him, police said.

Roughly 20 minutes later, at the Tremont Avenue station, a 16-year-old girl waiting on the southbound D platform was targeted by the same group, investigators said. One suspect pulled a knife, demanded her phone, and another showed a firearm before they escaped on a train heading downtown.

In the third attack, just after 5 a.m. near East 174th Street and Walton Avenue, a 20-year-old man was jumped from behind and punched repeatedly. One of the suspects took his phone as another brandished a gun, police said.

Police seek four suspects caught on camera

NYPD Crime Stoppers released images of the four men wanted in connection with what officials are calling a Bronx robbery pattern. Detectives believe the same crew is responsible for each of the three attacks, which all took place within hours of each other.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 1-800-577-TIPS or visit the Crime Stoppers website. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and a cash reward may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
