LAKEWOOD, NJ – A quiet Sunday afternoon turned tense when gunfire struck a Jewish home in Lakewood. The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. on East 5th Street, where surveillance video captured a red vehicle driving past the residence before someone leaned out of a window and opened fire.

Reports said one bullet shattered the window of a parked car while another pierced the exterior of the home. No injuries were reported.

Following the shooting, members of the Lakewood Shomrim civilian patrol located the suspected vehicle, leading police to take multiple individuals into custody. The exact number of arrests has not been confirmed by authorities.

At least five shots where heard in a security camera video released by a nearby homeowner. The video shows a red sedan speeding up to the house before slowing down with a dark-skinned male armed with a handgun leaning outside the car as it slowed in front of the house. The gunman fire atleast 5 shots sending nearby pedestrians fleeing.

The shooting appears to have been planned and targeted. Reports say one of the suspects was an adult and the other was a juvenile. They did not say which was the gunman and which was the driver.

Motive under investigation

Investigators have not yet determined a motive, and police have not announced any formal charges. As of Sunday evening, no inmates at the Ocean County Jail were listed on firearm-related offenses connected to the case.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to examine surveillance footage and gather evidence from the scene.
