Man shot dead in Mattapan as police identify victim in early morning homicide
BOSTON, MA – A man was found shot multiple times just after midnight Monday on a residential street in Mattapan, and has since been identified by police as 37-year-old Alex DeAndrade of Brockton.
Officers assigned to District B-3 responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 12:12 a.m. in the area of 24 Stow Road. When they arrived, they found DeAndrade suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Boston EMS transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have not released details on a suspect or motive, but the investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives with the Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit are urging anyone with information to come forward, anonymously if necessary.
The shooting occurred in a residential area of Mattapan, a neighborhood that has seen intermittent gun violence over the past year. There were no other reported injuries.
Investigators are also asking residents and businesses in the area to review any security footage that may assist in identifying suspects or vehicles connected to the shooting.
The Boston Police Department said photos and videos can be submitted anonymously, and all tips will be handled confidentially.
