Road rage turns violent after street deal gone wrong

Curtis Bay, MD — A man allegedly opened fire on a vehicle after a botched street transaction in Curtis Bay on Monday afternoon, narrowly missing his intended target in what police described as a non-contact shooting that ended in a swift arrest.

Around 3:10 p.m., a man sitting in his vehicle in the 8200 block of Fort Smallwood Road was approached by a suspect attempting to sell him unknown items. When the driver refused and began backing out, the suspect allegedly stepped in front of the vehicle and pointed a handgun directly at him. The driver maneuvered around the gunman to escape, prompting the suspect to fire a single shot from the side of the car. Neither the driver nor the vehicle was struck.

Officers from the Eastern District quickly canvassed the area and located the suspect a few blocks away in the 8000 block of Fort Smallwood Road. A stolen .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun was recovered near the location where the suspect was first spotted. Police took him into custody without further incident.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Andrew Joseph Dicks of Severn, Maryland, now faces multiple charges related to the shooting and firearm possession.
