Easy pick turns into $510K jackpot shock for Hampton player
Hampton, VA – A routine lottery purchase turned into a $510,000 windfall when a Hampton man realized the numbers on his ticket matched exactly with the winning combination drawn the night before.
Leon Davis bought multiple Cash 5 with EZ Match tickets at M & T Market on Kecoughtan Road and discovered one held the jackpot for the April 21 drawing.
The winning numbers were 11-29-31-32-38. Davis used the Easy Pick option, allowing the system to randomly generate his numbers.
When checking the ticket the next morning, Davis recognized the match immediately and confirmed he had won the top prize.
Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot that starts at $200,000, with odds of 1 in 1,221,759 to match all five numbers and win the jackpot.
Davis said he plans to use the winnings to assist family members.
Virginia Lottery proceeds support public education across the state. Hampton City, where Davis resides, received more than $24.7 million in Lottery funding for K-12 education during the last fiscal year. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Virginia Lottery generated more than $901 million for education, accounting for about 10 percent of the state’s total K-12 school budget.
