This article was previously published early Saturday morning based on NWS weather forecasts:
Freehold, NJ – A strong winter storm is forecast to move into central New Jersey late Friday afternoon, bringing a mix of sleet, heavy wet snow, and possible ice accumulation across Monmouth County and parts of northern Ocean County.
Forecasters expect conditions to begin deteriorating after 5 p.m., with precipitation starting between 4 and 5 p.m. The system is expected to hit hardest along the I-80 corridor and into the New York City area but will still bring several inches of snow farther south.

In Monmouth and northern Ocean counties, the storm is likely to begin as a sleet and snow mix before changing to steady snow late in the day and continuing through the evening. Snow may become heavy at times before tapering off overnight, leaving 3 to 6 inches of accumulation depending on temperatures and location.
Officials warned that the snow will be wet and heavy, raising the risk of power outages caused by falling tree limbs and downed lines. Residents are urged to use caution when shoveling and to report outages directly to JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877.
Municipal officials also reminded residents that parking on snow-covered streets is prohibited to allow public works crews to plow and clear roadways effectively. Vehicles left on the streets may be ticketed or towed.
Wet, heavy snow and possible icing are expected to bring up to six inches of accumulation and potential power outages across Monmouth and northern Ocean counties.
