Two $1 million Powerball tickets sold in Lindenhurst and Sidney
Albany, NY – Two Powerball players in New York are each $1 million richer after matching five numbers in the December 22 drawing, according to the New York Lottery.
The second-prize tickets were sold at two separate retailers. One was purchased at Smiley’s Stop and Shop, located at 17 West Main Street in Sidney. The other was sold at Montauk Highway Gas Corp, 571 West Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst.
Each ticket matched all five white balls but missed the red Powerball, resulting in the guaranteed $1 million second-tier prize. The jackpot-winning combination requires all five white balls plus the red Powerball.
The Powerball drawing was held as scheduled at 10:59 p.m. on December 22. Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Players have one year from the drawing date to claim their winnings.
The New York Lottery reports that it remains North America’s most profitable lottery, contributing $3.6 billion to public education in the 2024–2025 fiscal year.
