Dundalk couple planning home renovations after $50K MONOPOLY scratch-off win
DUNDALK, MD – A Dundalk woman is set to begin long-awaited home renovations after scoring a $50,000 prize on a $20 MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off, marking her biggest lottery win to date.
Kathleen Harding claimed the prize on October 6 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore with her husband, Douglas, by her side. The winning ticket was purchased at the Rossville Sunoco located at 8730 Pulaski Highway in Rosedale.
The couple said the money would be used to improve their home, which had belonged to Kathleen’s mother. The property hadn’t seen many upgrades over the years, making the win both timely and meaningful.
While Kathleen describes herself as a casual scratch-off player, her previous wins had never exceeded a few hundred dollars. Her husband Douglas has had better luck over the years, winning $10,000 and $5,000 in earlier games. Kathleen said she focuses exclusively on scratch-offs, while Douglas plays both scratch-offs and draw games.
The MONOPOLY™ X100 game, which launched in January, carries a top prize of $1 million. As of this week, two of the top six $1 million prizes remain unclaimed. Kathleen’s $50,000 prize is the game’s second-tier reward, and two of those still remain available as well. The game continues to offer a wide range of lower-tier prizes between $20 and $10,000.
