Jackson Township warns residents of towing and ticketing if you get stuck driving during state of emergency

Jackson Township, NJ – A snow-covered roadway could quickly become a costly mistake for drivers who ignore a newly declared emergency in Jackson Township, where officials say anyone who gets stuck during the storm will face towing and possible fines.

A State of Emergency has been declared in Jackson Township in conjunction with Executive Order No. 14 for New Jersey, taking effect Sunday at 11 a.m. due to impending severe weather conditions. Township officials warned residents that vehicles stuck on roadways during the storm will be removed at the owner’s expense if police response is required.

Drivers whose vehicles become disabled during the storm may also receive a summons for operating a vehicle during the emergency declaration. Officials urged residents to avoid travel unless it is essential.

The declaration is part of broader preparations for a significant snow storm expected to impact road conditions and visibility across the region. Township leaders said the measures are intended to ensure that emergency responders and public works crews can access all streets without obstruction.

Roadways must be cleared by 3 p.m.

To facilitate snow removal and emergency operations, all vehicles, athletic equipment, garbage receptacles, and loose debris must be removed from roadways by 3 p.m. Sunday. Officials said compliance is necessary to prevent delays in plowing and emergency response.

The township’s No Parking Ordinance will be in effect and strictly enforced. Any vehicle or object left in the roadway after the 3 p.m. deadline will be subject to ticketing and towing.

Officials emphasized that towing costs will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner, adding that the policy applies to any situation in which police are required to respond to a stranded vehicle during the emergency period.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local alerts for updates as conditions develop under the Jackson Township emergency declaration.
