JERSEY CITY, NJ – A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that left a 39-year-old Elizabeth man dead following a shooting and car crash in Jersey City earlier this year, authorities announced.
Members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, Gang Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Gerard Rosario, of Jersey City, into custody Wednesday on 38th Street in Union City.
He is charged with murder, multiple weapons offenses, and being a certain person not to possess a firearm.

Victim found shot in crashed car
On May 3, just after 4 p.m., Jersey City Police responded to reports of a crash near Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street. Officers found a vehicle that had struck a tree and an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat.
The driver, identified as Devon Reid, 39, of Elizabeth, had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:16 p.m.
Arrest follows months-long investigation
After months of investigative work, detectives linked Rosario to the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he awaits his first court appearance.
Prosecutor commends coordinated effort
Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello credited the combined efforts of local and federal law enforcement for apprehending the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
