Killer fugitive caught after wild chase through Cumberland

Violent fugitive with homicide past captured in Cumberland after early morning chase

CUMBERLAND, MD – A convicted killer who violated his probation and made threats against law enforcement was captured Tuesday morning after an intense manhunt by specialized units in Allegany County.

Timothy R. Deadrick, 60, was taken into custody around 7 a.m. after a brief pursuit involving the Allegany County Sheriff’s Special Operation Response Team (S.O.R.T), the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, Maryland State Police, and an MSP helicopter unit.

Deadrick had been wanted on a probation violation warrant stemming from an October 25 arrest for possession of controlled dangerous substances. The warrant was issued after Montgomery County authorities notified Allegany County that Deadrick had violated terms of his probation — a sentence originally tied to a 1990 homicide conviction in Montgomery County, MD.

Officials say Deadrick’s history of violence and specific threats against law enforcement triggered the deployment of S.O.R.T to track him down. He was located at an undisclosed location in Cumberland and arrested without further incident after attempting to flee.

He is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center pending transfer to Montgomery County.
