Knife-Wielding Suspect Arrested in DC Assault Case

Washington, D.C. – A man has been arrested for a First-Degree Sexual Abuse while Armed (Knife) incident that occurred in Southeast on Tuesday.

The suspect approached the victim in the 500 block of Lebaum Street, Southeast, armed with a knife, and forced the victim into an unwanted sexual act before fleeing the scene. Detectives later observed the suspect in the 3100 block of Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue, Southeast, and placed him under arrest. A knife was recovered from the suspect.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Darnell Peoples of Northeast, has been charged with First Degree Sexual Abuse while Armed (Knife). Peoples was previously arrested in September 2021 for Third-Degree Sexual Abuse and Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse offenses.
