Severn man busted with gun after hours in quiet park
Severn, MD — A late-night patrol through a closed Severn park on Monday led officers to a loaded handgun and an arrest, after they discovered an occupied vehicle parked illegally inside Provinces Park.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., Western District officers were monitoring the 1700 block of Disney Road when they found the vehicle inside the park after operating hours. Upon approaching and conducting a search, officers located a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun inside the car.
The driver was identified as 39-year-old Brandon Jamar Williams of Severn, Maryland. He was found to have an outstanding warrant and was immediately taken into custody. Charges were filed in connection to both the illegal possession of the weapon and the warrant.
No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported during the arrest. The investigation did not indicate any immediate threat beyond the presence of the weapon and the active warrant.
