Ocean County shopper scores $131K Fast Play jackpot from $5 ticket
Toms River, NJ – A spur-of-the-moment play turned into a six-figure windfall for an Ocean County resident who hit $131,917 in the New Jersey Lottery’s Fast Play Progressive game with a $5 ticket drawn Friday.
The winning Diamond Spectacular ticket, worth exactly half of the current jackpot, was sold at the Howard Johnson of Windham, located at 955 Hooper Avenue in Toms River, according to the New Jersey Lottery. The Fast Play Progressive pot has now grown to an estimated $158,000 as of Monday.
Fast Play Progressive games offer instant results, allowing players to find out immediately whether they’ve won. The prize amounts depend on the ticket price, with $10 tickets earning 100% of the current jackpot, $5 tickets earning 50%, $2 tickets earning 20%, and $1 tickets earning 10%.
This latest win marks one of the larger recent Fast Play payouts in the state and adds to a growing list of New Jersey Lottery winners this fall.
The Fast Play Progressive games are available at all Lottery retailers and contribute to a single, continuously growing jackpot. As players buy in, the jackpot rises in real time — until someone wins a share, as happened with Friday’s $5 ticket.
The New Jersey Lottery, founded in 1970, has generated over $34.6 billion in revenue for the state and currently supports public employee pensions under a 30-year funding agreement enacted in 2017.
