MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — This week, residents of Monroe Township could be impacted by low flying helicopters with men dangling from them.

Residents can expect to see helicopters circling overhead throughout the coming week as PSE&G conducts scheduled aerial inspections and maintenance of high-tension power lines across the township, officials announced Sunday.

According to the Monroe Township Police Department, the utility company’s crews will be performing visual patrols of transmission circuits “breaker-to-breaker,” checking conductors, structures, and related equipment for any signs of wear or reliability issues. Helicopters may hover or circle specific areas when inspectors identify potential concerns that require a closer look.

The inspections are expected to continue through the end of next week but could be extended in the event of storms or power outages. Some flight activity may also extend into neighboring towns as circuits are inspected in full.

Police said that the operation is routine and that flight crews are coordinating with local airports daily to maintain safety during the patrols.
