Man, 19, arrested in fatal Polaris Parkway shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old on Polaris Parkway, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

On Tuesday at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Polaris Parkway. Upon arrival, they found Joseph Suiter, 26, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene identified Elijah Roberts as the suspected shooter, police said.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, and Roberts was taken into custody by Columbus SWAT officers at a nearby residence.

Because the incident occurred within Delaware County jurisdiction, Roberts was booked into the Delaware County Jail.

The motive behind the shooting has not been released as the investigation continues.
