DOVER, Del. — A Smyrna man has been arrested and a second suspect remains at large after Delaware State Police say the pair attempted to tow a vehicle with two children inside from a Walmart parking lot in Dover.
On June 30 at approximately 7:35 p.m., troopers were called to the Walmart on Jerome Drive after 25-year-old Kevin Caple and 36-year-old Coles Khayree allegedly attempted to tow a Chevrolet Silverado parked in a fire lane.
Inside the SUV were a teenager and an infant. Police say Caple confronted the teen and threatened to tow the vehicle, while Khayree used the tow mechanism on their RAM 3500 truck to lift the SUV several feet into the air, frightening the children.
The mother arrived on scene shortly before troopers intervened. Investigators determined neither man wore tow company uniforms nor drove a marked tow truck. Caple was identified as a former employee of Wolfs Towing; Khayree was never employed there.
Caple turned himself in on July 3 and was charged with two counts of felony unlawful imprisonment, felony conspiracy, and criminal mischief. He was released on his own recognizance. Khayree is still wanted on the same charges.
