Man Arrested for Fatal Stabbing in the Bronx

BRONX, NY – The New York City Police Department has arrested and charged 22-year-old Johancris Vargas in connection with the stabbing death of 26-year-old Jefferson De La Cruz. The incident happened on Saturday, around 5:49 pm, in front of 1711 Colgate Avenue.

Officers responding to a 911 call discovered De La Cruz with two stab wounds to the torso. Emergency medical services transported him to NYC Health & Hospitals-Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. Vargas, who resides at 391 Bronx River Avenue apt 211, faces charges of murder, first-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The investigation continues, and the NYPD asks anyone with information relevant to this case to contact them.
