EDGEWOOD, Md. – A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a Christmas night shooting that left another man seriously injured in Edgewood, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

Deputies responded to the 1600 block of Candlewood Court around 9:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of a shooting and found 32-year-old Marquis Gaskins suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Deputies provided emergency care until medics arrived, and Gaskins was later airlifted to a regional hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

Investigators determined the shooting took place outside in the 1700 block of Dearwood Court. Surveillance footage and community assistance helped deputies identify a vehicle suspected to be involved. Around midnight, deputies located the car on Conowingo Road near the Bel Air Bypass and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Kenneth King Jr., 37, was wearing clothing matching video footage from the shooting, and deputies saw a handgun in his vehicle resembling the weapon captured on camera. King was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives later executed multiple search warrants, recovering a loaded 9mm handgun and several cell phones. Authorities believe the shooting was not random and that those involved knew one another.

King has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and multiple handgun offenses. He is being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center following a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.
