Baltimore, MD – On Thursday, authorities arrested 59-year-old Patrick Cromwell in connection to the fatal stabbing of 77-year-old Joseph Barranco in the Northern District. The incident occurred Sunday at the 900 block of West University Parkway. Cromwell was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with first-degree murder.
According to reports, officers responded to a call for an aggravated assault involving cutting at approximately 7:54 a.m. on the mentioned date. Upon arrival, they found Barranco unresponsive and suffering from severe lacerations. Despite medical intervention, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspect, a 59-year-old male, was apprehended on-site.
Following his arrest, the suspect informed dispatchers of his actions, indicating a belief that the victim had died. Homicide detectives took over the investigation, and the Medical Examiner’s Office retrieved Barranco’s body to determine the cause of death. The suspect, Cromwell, was then transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility to undergo further legal proceedings.
