NEW YORK, NY — A Bronx man was arrested Sunday in connection to an attempted rape and burglary, while police continue to search for a second suspect in a separate attempted sexual assault involving a 70-year-old woman, authorities said.

Oswaldo Ramos, 50, was taken into custody on Sunday, April 20, at 7:06 p.m. inside the 48th Precinct. Ramos, of 2330 Tiebout Avenue, was charged with first-degree attempted rape and first-degree burglary. Officials have not released additional details about the incident leading to his arrest.

The arrest came as part of an ongoing investigation into sex crimes in the Bronx, and authorities have not indicated whether Ramos is connected to the second case currently under investigation.

In the separate incident, the New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly attempted to rape a 70-year-old woman in broad daylight on Friday, April 18. According to police, the assault occurred around 1:00 p.m. in the area of Creston Avenue and East 184th Street, within the 46th Precinct.

Investigators said the man approached the woman from behind and attempted to rape her before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim was not physically injured during the encounter.


Police continue search for suspect in Friday attack

The suspect in the Friday incident is described as a male approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 165 pounds, with long gray hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt. No arrests have been made in that case as of Monday.

The NYPD is actively pursuing leads and asking anyone with information about the Friday attack to come forward. Surveillance footage and witness interviews are being reviewed in an effort to track the suspect’s movements following the incident.

Police have not confirmed whether there is any connection between the two cases.
