Husband turns himself in after wife found shot inside Fairland home
GAITHERSBURG, MD – A man surrendered to police on Saturday evening after investigators identified him as the suspect in the shooting death of his wife inside their Fairland home, ending a multi-day search that began when first responders found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the 3000 block of Memory Lane on Thursday at approximately 5:41 p.m., where they located Sarahi Concepcion Aragon-Cruz with an apparent gunshot injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
Detectives quickly identified Edwin Javier Aragon, 58, as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.
Aragon fled the scene after the shooting but turned himself in at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd District Station on Milestone Drive in Colesville. He is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
The Major Crimes Division – Homicide Section continues to investigate the circumstances of the case. No further information, including motive or additional details, has been released at this time.
