Chicago, IL A man recently convicted for domestic violence against his late wife is now facing a murder charge in connection with her death. Adam Beckerink, aged 47, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in Michigan’s Berrien County last week.

He received a sentence of 93 days in jail and two years’ probation. Beckerink’s wife, 36-year-old Caitlin Tracey, was discovered dead at the bottom of a 24-story stairwell in their Chicago high-rise condo.

Court records from Monday revealed that Beckerink has been charged with first-degree murder in Cook County. Police allege Beckerink was responsible for Tracey’s death in October.

The complaint and arrest warrant for Beckerink were filed and signed by a judge. Evidence indicates that Tracey’s body was “pulverized” with a severed foot at the scene.

Despite a known history of domestic violence, Beckerink had only been identified as a suspect until now. Tracey’s mother described Beckerink as a “monster” during his sentencing, expressing the family’s ongoing grief.

The Tracey family stated they hope the upcoming murder case will reveal the truth about Caitlin’s last months. Beckerink remains in jail for his domestic violence sentence in Michigan.
