Man critically burned after woman throws hot oil on him in Brooklyn attack

BROOKLYN, NY – A 38-year-old man was hospitalized in critical but stable condition after police say a woman doused him with hot cooking oil during an early morning assault in East Flatbush.

The attack occurred around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday near East 94th Street and Winthrop Street, according to investigators.

Authorities said the woman fled the scene on foot and remains at large.

Victim suffered extensive burns

Police said the victim sustained serious burns to his chest, arms, and legs when the woman poured the boiling oil onto him during an apparent dispute. Emergency responders arrived within minutes and transported him to Staten Island University Hospital North Campus, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Police release suspect description

The suspect is described as a woman with a dark complexion, approximately 30 years old, of medium build, with long black hair styled in braids. She was last seen wearing black pants with white lettering on the left leg, a black shirt, and black sneakers.

Detectives from the NYPD are investigating the circumstances leading up to the attack and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings.
