ALLENTOWN, PA – A 62-year-old man wanted on a parole violation was found dead Sunday morning after barricading himself inside a hotel room during a standoff with police.

The incident began around 10:16 a.m. when Pennsylvania State Police Troopers from Troop M Bethlehem located the man in the parking lot of the Super 8 Hotel on Airport Road.

When troopers attempted to serve an arrest warrant, the suspect fled into a hotel room armed with a firearm and refused to surrender.

Standoff prompts major police response

Authorities said the death does not appear suspicious, and no other injuries were reported. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.

The incident remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Criminal Investigation Unit, with assistance from Allentown Police, the E.R.T., and the Coroner’s Office.
