Man killed crossing Route 9 in Old Bridge early Saturday morning

OLD BRIDGE, N.J. – A 30-year-old New Brunswick man was struck and killed early Saturday while attempting to cross Route 9 South near the Quality Chevrolet dealership, authorities said.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Old Bridge Police Chief Thomas J. Montagna, officers were called to the scene around 1:25 a.m., where they found the victim, identified as Davon Porter, lying in the roadway. Porter had been hit by a Honda CR-V driven by a 30-year-old man from Manalapan.

Emergency responders pronounced Porter dead at the scene. The driver remained on-site and cooperated with investigators.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Old Bridge Police Department are continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
